Meet the Artist

My name is Caitlyn Hyland, a visual artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am trained primarily in jewelry making, printmaking, and graphic design, but truly do love and am skilled in most mediums. In my fine art practice, I'm really interested in telling a story. I blend traditional techniques with bold, imaginative, and whimsical elements to create truly unique work. In an increasingly digital world, my artistic practice stands apart through its deep roots in craftsmanship. I truly value the tactile, hands-on exploration that comes from working with physical materials. Whether it’s sketching, cutting, painting, or designing, this initial phase allows me to connect more personally with each work. Only after this foundation is laid do I transition to digital tools, refining and finalizing the work for its intended platform or purpose.

Whether I’m carving into a block for a relief print or creating handmade jewelry, my overarching goal is to craft art that resonates both aesthetically and conceptually. I’m passionate about merging craftsmanship with modern design to create pieces that evoke emotion and spark conversation.

I graduated from Xavier University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentrating in Printmaking and Graphic Design, along with a minor in Arts Administration. My education at Xavier gave me a strong foundation in creative exploration and technical skills. I developed a deep understanding of visual storytelling, hands-on processes, and experimental techniques that continue to shape my artistic work today. Pairing this with a minor in Arts Administration has expanded my perspective beyond the studio. I am also trained in essential skills in gallery operation, event planning, and business management, from things such as: organization, social media, budgeting, marketing, and building relationships with curators and collectors. This dual focus has made me not only a more resourceful and organized artist, but has also given me the confidence to independently manage my own creative practice. This has equipped me to sell my work directly, collaborate professionally with galleries, and navigate the art world with both creativity and strategy. I am continuing my education at Xavier University in their Xccelerated 4x1 Masters of Business Administration program and am a member of the Cintas Graduate Ethics Fellowship program. In the future, I hope to own my own art gallery.

Crafted Just for You

At Violet’s Moon Studio, each piece is created with intention, patience, and artistry, and I will mostly make work on a made to order basis. Made to order means your jewelry begins its life the moment you choose your piece. My work does not just not sit on a shelf, but rather, it comes to life through a real creative process. This approach allows me to slow down, minimize waste, and give every piece the time and care it deserves. Because your piece is crafted specifically for you, no two items are ever exactly alike. The subtle details, textures, and finishes are shaped by hand, making your jewelry truly one-of-a-kind. It’s a more thoughtful way to create, and a more meaningful way to own. Choosing made to order art supports small-scale craftsmanship, reduces unnecessary production, and ensures that what you receive is fresh from the studio and made with purpose, not mass-produced. I believe beautiful things are worth the wait, and I am so honored to craft something that is uniquely yours.
